Fixed what I thought was wrong with it, and am pretty happy with it now! Thanks for the help guys.

And in no way was I aiming this at any particular group of people. I didn't even think about it when I created the design - that said, I'm not changing the design.
I really like it Aside from the bright yellow and red, it really makes the controversial topic of financing aid research seem soft. You welcome people to the website with the picture, which makes me go 'aww'

I really like the clever thing you've done with the arms to form the aids ribbon symbol thing. It's not too obvious that it's blaring out and it kinda encourages you to read the stuff below the two figures. XD I'm not much good at knowing anything about advertising tactics, but ummm, I don't know, maaaybe use of gradient with another colour in the background might be good? xD;;;
Just as a note too, so many people I know and have talked to about aids kind of think it's basically the gay-man's disease, or at least gay men are a lot more likely to have aids than anyone else, and as a result there's a subtle assumption that heterosexual sex is safer, which is a load of cobblers in the face of scientific hard evidence. xP So yeah, don't want to sound like a nit-picky bitch, but I dunno, a poster like this could re-enforce that kind of opinion? Especially if it's like... seen on the street or something? xD
I don't think that yellow is working. I think you need something that's going going to add a bit more contrast between the face/arms and the background. Currently the yellow and the orangey color of the skin are similar. Though you're not loosing the ribbon shape, you could make it appear it easier. I don't know. Simply put I think the yellow is too similar to the skin color, and I think changing the color would help. *shot*
I'm unhappy with the text too. But I'm bad with type so I don't know what I can tell you. There is however a tangent because they're standing on the words. I don't know if you're going for that, but since only a small part of their foot is standing on it- it looks like a tangent. As such I would just move it down, because either they need to be standing on the words or not (and right now they're just kind of teetering on it).

Should the people in it be two men? I know that AIDs tends to be more of a problem in that group (NOT because they're bad or anything, but that it's just a smaller group...or at least that's what I hear?), but it's almost like reinforcing a negative stereotype as well as overlooking the fact women and children and heterosexual couples have plenty of problems with it, too. Perhaps if this were a series of posters in the same manner- a hetero couple, a gay couple, a mother and chld, etc. I could see it...
I also think the yellow's too bright...maybe tone that down a bit so it's not so distracting!
BUUT, besides that, the design over all is great- simple and effective, and the ribbon-arm thing is BRILLIANT. Your work is really shining through as professional lately, and this design is incredibly unique and smart...and totally something I could never be creative enough to think of.Keep up the good work, you're going to go far
And the only reason why it might be more of a problem is cause they don't have to deal with unwanted pergnancies so STDs are the main issue for gay couples. But frankly, it's more something of the past. Because people have become more educated on how to protect themselves from most STDs then it's a less talked about subject since people (and gay couples in particular) practice safe sex.
If it was part of a series then I'd be more open to it. I mean, there is alot of heterosexual aids roaming around. If you have also a hetero couple then that's fine but otherwise it feels like you're uncosciously aiming it at gay couples when it's evenly spread out from what I know.
I'm sorry sweety! I forgot to comment on the image itself! I love the concept even if I was one of those people that didn't get it right away but that's cause I forgot that AIDS has ribbons.... (I'm a moron) But I kind of like the yellow.. it grabs my attention I find.
